A Coronavirus Update from Rep. Huffman: Office Operations

Hello,

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to take a few moments to share an update with all of you on the steps our office is taking to keep everyone safe.

This is an evolving situation, and additional information on our response to COVID-19, updates to D.C. tours and accessibility, and county-specific resources can be found on my website, huffman.house.gov.

Constituent Services

My offices are standing by to help anyone in need of assistance. However, we are following guidance from the CDC and the state of California to limit personal interaction and staff is working remotely. Please call your district office or 415-258-9657 and share your name (with spelling), phone number, and email address and one of our field representatives will follow up with you shortly. If you are already working with a field representative they are checking emails and voicemails frequently so you can reach them using email or the phone.

If you have questions about a meeting that was previously scheduled with us in California please call 415-258-9657 or email Huffman.cascheduling@mail.house.gov. For questions about a meeting in D.C., please call 202-225-5161.

Capitol Access and Tours

The House and Senate Sergeant at Arms have ordered limited access to the U.S. Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center to protect the health and safety of visitors. This will be in effect at least until April 1:

  • Capitol Visitor Center: The Capitol Visitor Center will be closed to all tours, including Congressional Member and staff-led tours.
  • U.S. Capitol: The Capitol will only be open to Congressional Members, staff and official business visitors. The Capitol will be closed to all tours, including Congressional Member and staff-led tours.
  • White House: The White House has announced that it has suspended White House Tours indefinitely. They have emailed groups directly for those whose tours have been suspended. 
  • Smithsonian Institution: All Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., including the National Zoo, will temporarily close to the public starting Saturday, March 14 until further notice. All tours and special events at the Institution have also been postponed. 
  • Bureau of Engraving and Printing: tours are suspended until further notice.
  • Library of Congress: All buildings and facilities are closed to the public, and all tours are canceled through April 1. 
  • FBI: All tours are suspended until further notice.
    Supreme Court: All courtroom lectures likely through April 3 have been canceled.
