Internships in Washington, D.C. give college students or recent graduates invaluable work experience and insight into the legislative process. In Washington, interns' responsibilities will vary, and range from answering phones, legislative research for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings and organizing constituent letters on various issues before the House. We are seeking motivated, organized, and reliable individuals, and California ties are preferred. The program is currently not open to high school students.
We offer a stipend for interns with demonstrated financial need. Please note in your cover letter whether financial circumstances might prevent you from accepting an unpaid internship. In addition, please describe in your application any scholarships or academic programs that you would be part of during this internship.
Internship candidates are encouraged to apply for internship positions in the Washington, D.C. office at least two months in advance of the desired start date.
