Friday, July 21: Rep. Huffman, Marin Transit to Hold Press Conference on $31.5 Million Investment in Electric Transportation

San Rafael, CA – On Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11am PT, Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) and representatives from Marin Transit will hold a press conference to celebrate the recently announced $31.5 million grant to Marin Transit for an Electric Bus Charging and Maintenance Facility. The grants, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration, were made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Rep. Huffman helped get passed in Congress.

Marin County Transit District (Marin Transit) was formed by a vote of the people of Marin County in 1964 and was given the responsibility for providing local transit service within Marin County. Marin Transit contracts with other providers, including Golden Gate Transit, Marin Airporter, MV Transportation and Transdev, for local bus and paratransit services. Marin Transit pays for services using Measure AA Funds, State Transportation Development Act Funds, fares, property taxes and Federal Section 5311 rural transit funds.
