Rep. Huffman Announces New Funding for Disaster Relief in Mendocino County
Washington, D.C.- Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) announced that Mendocino County has been awarded $397,180 in new federal support for fire recovery efforts from the Economic Development Agency (EDA).
“The Redwood Valley Fire had devastating effects for Mendocino County’s economy and community at large,” said Rep. Huffman. “The path to full recovery is long and Mendocino County needs support, while it rebuilds its infrastructure and repairs the damage from the fire. I am glad to see the EDA support economic recovery and long-term success for Mendocino County with this federal funding.”
The new grant from the EDA, which Huffman had requested, will be used to support Mendocino County’s efforts to create a resilient economy and recover from the economic impacts of the Redwood Valley Fire.
Specifically, the new funding:
- Includes funds for hiring a disaster recovery coordinator for Mendocino County;
- Will be used to develop Mendocino County’s Economic Recovery and Resiliency Plan, broadband plan, and support long-term disaster recovery; and
- Will create 30 jobs, save 10 jobs, and leverage $500,000 in private investments.
