On the Road Again in Northern California
Hello,
As we begin the August district work period, it's great to be back on the North Coast connecting with people across our communities, seeing the challenges firsthand, and working on the issues that matter most.
SUPPORTING OUR FIREFIGHTERS
Wildfires are happening throughout our district. I was on the ground with CalFire at the Hopland Feliz Fire and Sonoma Coast Woodside fire sites and toured the damage and thanked CalFire crews and first responders for their incredible work.
During this dangerous fire season, it's critical that we all stay informed, prepared, and ready to take the necessary steps to keep our families and communities safe. That's why I just introduced the Wildfire Response and Readiness Act. Leading House Democrats’ solution to the wildfire crisis that will protect our lands, prepare our communities, and give federal firefighters the support they need and the benefits they deserve.

QUIETER FLIGHT PATHS FOR COMMUNITIES, NOT JUST BILLIONAIRES
Bohemian Grovers showed us an infuriating reality: billionaires with private jets somehow got the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to temporarily return to flight routes the community has been begging them to adopt. They’ll bend over backwards for Bohemian Grovers but not for West Sonoma County residents and wildlife who have been subject to huge upticks in aircraft noise since January of 2024.
Last week, I convened local officials and community members at the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport to discuss the impacts of the FAA's current departure procedures on West Sonoma County residents.
The double standard is clear – one set of rules for the fabulously rich, another for everyone else. I want to make sure that the folks I represent get the same consideration as the billionaires and oligarchs who are having a good time in Bohemian Grove. So, we’re turning up the pressure on the FAA to do the right thing.
I'm continuing to push the FAA to permanently restore the pre-2024 flight paths and provide lasting relief to the families who have lived with increased aircraft noise for far too long.

CELEBRATING WORKERS WHO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHY
In recognition of National Health Center Week, I visited Russian River Health and Wellness Center in Guerneville and to thank essential care providers for services they provide to families across our communities.
One year after the largest cuts to health care in American history, we're seeing the strain on patients, providers, and the health centers that many families in need depend on. Community health centers are more important than ever, providing affordable, high-quality care close to home and community hubs for public health. I'll keep fighting in Washington to protect these vital providers and ensure every family can access the care they need.

HEARING DIRECTLY FROM YOU
One of the best parts of the district work period is the opportunity to hear directly from the people I represent.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at last week's town hall in Petaluma. I appreciated your thoughtful questions, ideas, and honest conversations about the issues facing our communities. Your input helps shape my work in Congress, and I'm grateful to everyone who took the time to participate.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas, concerns, and stories with me. I'll carry those conversations back to Washington as I continue fighting for our communities.
And don’t forget, whether you need help working with a federal agency or information about legislation and policy, my staff and I are here to support you. If you need assistance, you can submit a Casework Authorization Form on my website.
