Back in Washington to Fight for You
Hello,
Trump’s shutdown – the longest one in U.S. history – is finally over. I headed back to Washington this week, ready to hit the ground running to lower costs, restore programs, and save affordable health care. But despite overwhelming cries from the American people to get that accomplished, Republicans didn’t put forward a single bill to lower the cost of living for hard working people.
Their policies have driven up the cost of health care, groceries, and energy bills and continue to make life harder for families across the country. The last thing families need to be worrying about is how they’re going to put food on the table – especially with Thanksgiving coming up.
But Trump and his cronies are too busy building a gilded ballroom, buying private jets for Cabinet members, and giving Big Oil billionaires handouts to work with us and actually help make life easier for the American people. It’s corrupt, reckless, and flat-out wrong.
VOTE TO RELEASE EPSTEIN FILES
Finally, after months of stonewalling, the House voted to release the Epstein Files.
Survivors deserve justice and the American people deserve the truth. I will keep fighting to hold anyone involved accountable for these crimes – no matter how wealthy or well-connected they are.
PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT
It seemed like the top priority for Trump and Republicans this week was rolling out the red carpet for billionaire polluters to do what they please with America’s lands and waters, no matter the cost.
Trump is going after the Clean Water Act, removing protections for a huge chunk of our public water sources so that his polluting mega-donor buddies can do whatever it takes to pad their pockets – even if that means destroying clean drinking water and healthy waterways in the process. SUPPORTING YOU
On the other side of D.C., back in Congress, Republicans jammed through resolutions to make fossil fuel extraction the number one priority for how we manage our public lands. Wildfire defense, public safety, recreation, and conservation will all take a back seat now to maximizing corporate profits. That is so out of touch with what our country needs.
Americans should have clean air and water, green and reliable energy, good paying jobs, and affordable health care – not handouts to polluters. You deserve a lot better than this, and I was proud to lead House Democrats fighting back on the House Floor.
And don’t forget, whether it’s help working with a federal agency, or providing information about legislation and policy, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance, you can submit a Casework Authorization Form on my website.
To keep up with the work I am doing as your representative, please subscribe to my newsletter, and follow me on Bluesky, Facebook, Twitter/ X, Instagram, and Threads.
Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving up and down the North Coast!
