Rep. Huffman Speaks Out Against President Trump's Move to Revive Keystone XL & Dakota Access Pipeline
WASHINGTON, D.C.—On the same day President Trump issued presidential memoranda to revive the harmful Keystone XL Pipeline and the Dakota Access Pipeline, Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) yesterday spoke to a crowd gathered in front of the White House:
"Apparently millions of people all over this country, all over this world, marching, speaking out, was not enough to get through to Donald Trump and to the oil oligarchs that are gradually taking over our federal government. And so we're going to have to make sure that that message is repeated and probably a little bit louder. We're going to have to make sure they hear us when we say we're not going back to the 1950s, not just one women's issues and diversity and equality but absolutely not back to that antiquated view where we can steamroll the people. Where we can steamroll the interests of Native American communities. Where we can steamroll the environment. We're not going to let it happen."
