Rep. Huffman Applauds President Biden’s Executive Orders to Combat the Climate Crisis

January 27, 2021

San Rafael, CA – Today, Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael), Member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and Chair of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife, released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s new environmental executive orders:

“For the past four years, we have fought against Trump’s dirty energy agenda that put polluters over people, focused on lining the pockets of oil and gas executives, and ignored science,” said Rep. Huffman. “But, with today’s executive orders that build upon Biden’s day-one actions to divest from fossil fuels and rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, we have begun a new age for positive change. President Biden is honoring his promise to urgently respond to climate crisis in a way that will bolster our economy and promote environmental justice for all. After the Trump administration shamefully left a leadership vacuum on the world stage, President Biden is sending a clear message that America is back as a global leader in the fight against climate change.

“Bold climate action has been a priority for me and my many democratic colleagues, and we finally have partners in the White House to build on the work we’ve accomplished. We have a responsibility to protect the planet for the next generations, and I’m ready to work alongside President Biden to keep that promise, create jobs, and restore scientific integrity,” Huffman concluded.
