Trump Needs Be Reined In

January 21, 2026

Hello,

What’s happening in Minnesota and cities across the country under Trump and Kristi Noem is horrifying. First, ICE and DHS agents have been threatening and assaulting people in their workplaces, families on their way to day care, and students outside their schools for months. And now, American citizens are getting murdered in the streets.

This administration’s violent rampage is out of control. It’s clear that ICE is operating with no accountability or oversight, and I am just as disturbed as all of you. I voted against the Big, Ugly Law over the summer because it gave ICE a blank check to carry out Trump’s illegal agenda, and I’m part of every congressional action to stop ICE from further terrorizing our communities.

To make matters worse, Trump has been obsessed with taking over Greenland – a Danish territory that doesn’t want to be colonized by a foreign country. Meanwhile, American citizens in D.C. have been begging to become a state and get equal representation. Instead of focusing on an unnecessary conquest and imperialism, Trump should focus back on OUR country.

But of course, Republicans are fully backing Trump’s unreasonable Greenland policies, and a Republican from Florida went so far as to introduce a bill to make Greenland the 51st state. I think it’s not only dumb and reckless, but it also does nothing to address the real problems facing Americans right now. From the rising cost of living to ICE’s terrifying rampage, we have much bigger fish to fry.

Trump also is charging ahead in his efforts to open California coastlines to Big Oil billionaires and sell out our public lands. I traveled up and down the North Coast last weekend to hear from the people in our communities who would actually be impacted by more drilling projects, and their message was loud and clear: NO.

I’m grateful to everyone who came out to speak with me about the administration’s latest schemes, and I’m carrying all of your stories and voices here in the halls of Congress.

As winter weather continues to kick in, keeping our power on during harsh weather conditions is critical. And I have some good news! My team and I secured community project funding for the Trinity Public Utilities District’s new Sno-cat, a machine that was delivered just in time to help our community moving and warm over the next few months.

Thank you, and stay well,
