The Trump administration has launched us into a rash, illegal war in Iran, triggering global chaos and creating new economic uncertainty here at home. Americans are struggling to afford groceries and rent – but instead of making life better for them, Trump is going to throw billions of taxpayer dollars into this war of choice. It’s reckless, and the American people and our brave servicemembers deserve better.

Last week, I voted to pass a bipartisan War Powers Resolution to demand an end to this madness. But once again, my Republican colleagues seem to have bowed to the whims of a madman and ended up killing this resolution, enabling Trump to illegally launch America into senseless conflict abroad.

On top of all this madness, reports surfaced that servicemembers are allegedly being told by military leaders that the war in Iran is part of biblical prophecy that God anointed Trump to carry out. If this is true, it’s a gross violation to church-state separation. We must ensure that military operations are guided by facts and the law, not end-times prophecy and extreme religious beliefs – so my colleagues in the Congressional Freethought Caucus and I asked the Office of the Inspector General to investigate these reports.
