Marin County Environmental Infrastructure
Marin County suffered an unprecedented drought in 2020 and 2021, and the water district is developing short- and long-term projects to increase water yield, flexibility, and reliability, while realizing flood and environmental benefit. At Nicasio Reservoir, Marin Water has identified a uniquely cost-effective opportunity to add “adjustable” or “movable” spillway gates to add 3,000-4,000 acre-feet of new water storage capacity. This funding will support the project to provide new management tools and allow for real-time management of the reservoir to minimize flood impacts and maximize downstream environmental benefits.
