Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Tech Upgrades
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) aims to improve access to necessary digital tools through an overhaul replacement of their outdated computers. Proper technology can streamline real- time data to provide information that aids in decision-making, helps prevent crime, mitigates potential threats, and keeps our communities safe. This funding will provide the necessary financial assistance to make these replacements happen.
“We appreciate Congressman Jared Huffman and his team for helping secure $175,000 in federal grant funding for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in May 2024. These grant funds were put to work immediately to support forensic DNA testing to help identify previously unidentified human remains, strengthen our investigative capabilities, and assist our Missing and Murdered Indigenous People investigations. We have already used familial DNA, through a private DNA testing company, Othram, to help solve missing persons investigations. On behalf of our office and the families we serve, thank you to Congressman Huffman and his staff for getting this funding approved and delivered,” said Erin Inskip, Public Information Specialist for Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
