How the Trump Agenda is Hurting Americans
As the Trump administration continues to roll out reckless policies and slash through programs millions of Americans depend on, I know members of our community are already feeling the impacts. I’ve heard from many of you about your concerns and fears regarding Trump’s Big, Ugly Law that Congress passed over the summer, and I can assure you we are pursuing every available avenue to mitigate the damage of this legislation.
Trump’s Big Ugly Law:
- Kicks 2.4 million Californians off their health care
- Triggers a $3,070 average increase in health care premiums for people in CA-02 covered under the Affordable Care Act
- Puts 28 rural hospitals across California at risk of shutting their doors
- Compromises entire or partial food assistance for over 360,000 Californians
My team and I are working around the clock to make sure we can help in any way possible – and want to stay informed on all your experiences and perspectives during these unprecedented times. From ICE raids to this sweeping legislation to countless other policy decisions, I know the Trump administration is impacting us all.
The Republican Health Care Crisis
If Donald Trump and Republicans continue to stonewall, insurance premiums will double because of expiring health care tax credits. The tax credits are often the only thing that allow millions of Americans to afford a doctor’s visit, care after an accident, or prescriptions for their kids.
Without these tax credits, more than 37,000 constituents across California’s Second District will be forced to pay up to $25,090 more per year for their health care premiums. Our community cannot afford this extreme price hike on health care. Democrats in Congress are working hard to permanently extend these tax credits so American families will not have to worry about paying more than twice as much for their health care.
Many people in our district have already begun receiving notices of their insurance rates going up. I want to hear from you – how will health care price increases impact your family?
