Exercising Your Right to Vote
Free, fair, and secure elections are the foundation of American democracy. Every eligible voter deserves the chance to have their voice heard, free from intimidation, and have confidence our election systems will remain protected from interference. As your Representative in Congress, I am committed to protecting your vote, safeguarding our elections, and defending American voting rights.
This webpage serves as a hub for election day information and what to expect when you go to the polls. Here you’ll find helpful local resources and voter best practices. Please reach out to my office or your local election officials with any questions, comments, or concerns, or to learn more about how you can be an active participant in our democracy this November.
Voter Best Practices:
• Vote Early: Whether you’re dropping off a mail ballot at an in-person Dropbox or early voting at the polls, make a plan to vote and VOTE EARLY!
• Review Local Election Guidelines: Check it once, then check it again. Visit your local election website for dates, locations, times, registration status, and mail ballot request information. Use this information to make a plan to vote.
• Ballot Tracking: Every vote must be counted. If you voted using a mail-in or absentee ballot, you can make sure that your ballot was counted by tracking it via your state election website.
• Tune out the Noise: While it feels like the 2026 election has been anything but normal, remember that American elections are safe and secure. Don’t let the news dissuade you from making your voice heard at the ballot box.

Register to Vote
Eligible California residents can register to vote online through the California Secretary of State.
The standard voter-registration deadline for the November 3, 2026, General Election is October 19, 2026.
If you miss that deadline, California offers Same Day Voter Registration, also called Conditional Voter Registration. Eligible residents may conditionally register and cast a provisional ballot at a county elections office, polling place, or vote center through Election Day.
Voting by Mail
California county elections officials mail a vote-by-mail ballot to every active registered voter. You do not need to submit a separate application to receive one.
You may return your completed ballot:
-
By mail;
-
At an official ballot drop box;
-
At a polling place or vote center; or
-
At your county elections office.
If you return your ballot by mail, confirm the current postmark and receipt deadlines with the California Secretary of Stateor your county elections office. Mailing your ballot early can help avoid delays.
Track Your Ballot
California voters can enroll in Where’s My Ballot? to receive automatic notifications when their ballot is mailed, received, and counted. Notifications are available by email, text message, or voice call.
If your ballot cannot be counted immediately because of a signature issue, your county elections office may contact you with instructions and a deadline for correcting the problem.
Voting in Person
Voters may cast a ballot in person at an authorized polling place, vote center, or county elections office.
Because locations and hours vary by county, check your county elections website before traveling. Your county office can also provide information about:
-
Early in-person voting;
-
Election Day locations and hours;
-
Accessible voting equipment;
-
Language assistance;
-
Replacement ballots; and
-
Conditional or provisional voting.
If you are in line when the polls close, remain in line and follow instructions from election officials.
Accessible Voting
Contact your county elections office to discuss the option that best meets your needs. Additional information is available through the California Secretary of State’s Accessible Voting Resources.
