Huffman Statement on President Obama’s Climate Action Plan

June 25, 2013

WASHINGTON—Following President Obama’s announcement of a new Climate Action Plan to fight climate change by cutting carbon pollution and increasing renewable energy production, Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) issued the following statement supporting immediate congressional action:

“President Obama’s Climate Action Plan included a number of critical policy reforms, including greenhouse gas limits on power plants, advancements in energy efficiency, and investments in renewable energy on public lands.

“I know the dangerous impact severe weather, sea level rise, wildfires and the other impacts of climate change will have on the lives of my constituents. California has taken bold steps to combat climate change, and I’m glad that President Obama is taking up the challenge on a federal level.

“Addressing climate change will strengthen America’s economy, improve our health, and save money for consumers, businesses, and taxpayers.

“I applaud President Obama for the important step of announcing the Climate Action Plan and look forward to working with him and members of Congress to take action.”
