Friday, May 20: Huffman to Visit Anderson Valley Housing Project to Celebrate Community Project Funding
San Rafael, CA – On Friday, May 20 at 4:15pm PT, Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) will meet with Anderson Valley Housing Association Board members to tour the Anderson Creek Apartments, a site of the Anderson Valley Affordable Housing Initiative Community Project, and celebrate the $400,000 awarded to the project that was allocated as a part of this year’s federal spending package.
The funding will be used for the Anderson Valley Housing Association (AVHA) and the Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC) who are partnering to provide affordable housing in the Anderson Valley. AVHA and AVHC have a longstanding commitment to the health and wellbeing of the underserved population in the valley including those under 200% of poverty level and seasonal farm workers. There is a significant shortage of affordable housing in this rural valley and AVHA has over 40 individuals on a waiting list for affordable housing.
For the first time in over a decade, Members of Congress were able to push for specific funding in the FY2022 funding bills for projects in their districts. Thanks to partnership with local stakeholders and organizations, Rep. Huffman was able to secure more than $11.5 million for nine projects in California's Second District, including the Anderson Valley Affordable Housing project.
Rep. Huffman invites members of the press to join him for the visit to hear about the project and tour the site. Press interested in attending should submit their RSVP to Mary Hurrell (email@example.com).
