Regional Leadership Council Holds Meeting at White House to Discuss Implementation

Washington, D.C. – Representative Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) joined fellow members of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) for a meeting at the White House with key officials in the Biden-Harris administration to discuss their effort to implement the historic laws that Democrats enacted in the 117th Congress. The meeting coincides with the Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America tour, where President Biden, members of his Cabinet, and Congressional Democrats are traveling across the country over the course of three weeks to highlight the impact these laws are having on hardworking people in America.

Participants in the meeting included Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs Louisa Terrell, Deputy Chief of Staff Natalie Quillian, and Senior Advisors to the President Mitch Landrieu and John Podesta. Chairman Steny Hoyer (MD-05) laid out the RLC's three-part plan to ensure that Americans in every corner of the country know and feel the impact of these transformative laws: identify, implement, and inform. 

“We have this great opportunity to show people in America exactly what Democrats delivered for them over the past two years – and we can’t let those historic wins get swept under the rug. We secured funding for infrastructure, clean energy, advancements in technology, and more. So, our goal is to make sure our constituents are not only informed about what’s available to them, but also get their fair share of these transformative investments,” said Rep. Huffman. “Our Council will continue working hand-in-glove with the administration to ensure all of us are getting the right information out to the American people so they can reap the benefits of everything we’ve delivered.”

Whether delivering information to local stakeholders, making new programs and grants more accessible, or communicating the positive effects of these laws to the American people, the RLC and the Biden-Harris administration will coordinate to ensure the American people can feel the impact of these historic measures. The RLC and Biden administration will also continue to highlight what’s at stake in terms of private sector investment, jobs, and lower health care and prescription drug costs if Republicans in Congress get their way and repeal the Inflation Reduction Act and slash funding for manufacturing, innovation, and research. Today's meeting made it clear that the RLC and Biden administration’s cooperation will remain steadfast in the weeks, months, and years to come.
