Rep. Huffman Reacts to Proposed Rule for Dog Management
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) today issued the following statement in response to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area’s release of a proposed rule for dog management:
“I have heard from constituents on both sides of this debate and have shared this feedback with the park service. I appreciate that the park service has a difficult job in balancing the varied and occasionally competing values of GGNRA stakeholders, and I understand their focus on reducing conflicts. I am nevertheless concerned about the scope of reduction in areas for off-leash and leash access for dog owners in the proposed rule. To ensure that my constituents can fully analyze, consider and comment upon this major change in dog access policy, I am asking the Park Service to extend the 60-day comment period to at least 90 days.”
