Anderson Valley Affordable Housing Initiative
Rep. Huffman tours an apartment unit in the Boonville housing complex that AVHA plans to preserve for affordable housing.
The Anderson Valley Housing Association (AVHA) and Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC) have a longstanding commitment to the health and wellbeing of the underserved population in the valley including those under 200% of poverty level and seasonal farm workers. There is a significant shortage of affordable housing in this rural valley and AVHA has over 40 individuals on a waiting list for affordable housing. This funding will be used for AVHA and AVHC who are partnering to provide affordable housing in the Anderson Valley.
“The Anderson Valley Housing Association is thrilled to receive this funding which will enable us to continue to provide affordable housing in Anderson Valley. Our last new project was in the 90s and this funding is like a dream come true," said AVHA President Stephanie Gold. "The funding that is helping us purchase this property will prevent the apartments from being turned into vacation rentals or converted to higher priced rentals and will help to maintain affordable housing for people who live and work in Anderson Valley. Thank you congressman Huffman!”
